In 2018, one of our friends was diagnosed with cancer, and underwent surgery in the summer of 2019. The operation was scheduled just in time for our group holiday, which up until then we had spent at RockHarz.

The heartbreaking and really not-so-pretty pictures (selfies) he sent us from the hospital while we were at RockHarz inspired us to organize a group get-together with him after his hospital sta y, a weekend camping trip.

The plan was to have a barbecue and spend some time together! That plan quickly grew into something more. Someone suggested we needed a DJ with a playlist like RockHarz 2019! ...Three beers later, we asked a good friend who plays in a band if he and his band would perform at our get-together. And so, bit by bit, our barbecue and camping get-together became Streetz Open Air (St.O.A).

Lots of amazing people pitched in to give our friend a little joy and strength back after all that crap!

A big thank-you to the residents of Streetz for understanding when we showed up unannounced at short notice back then!

Personally, I’m grateful for the really lovely new friends I made during the preparations. You’ve all been a wonderful addition to my life!

As DJ, with lights and sound system, you made it possible to put on the very first St.O.A in 2019 (Timo’s Party) in the first place!
Thanks to  King Leoric , the first band to confirm their live set! 

Thanks to Restbehstand , whom we met four weeks earlier at Baltic Open Air, and who said after three beers: "We’ll come all the way from Austria to play for you!"

Thanks to Razzor , who got in touch out of the blue and asked if they could play, and gave us a huge hand with the technical setup. And thanks to Parasit who also joined us after a quick phone call.

And of course, the people and businesses who came through with   a semi-trailer, sound equipment and mixing desk, a food stall and a beer wagon. 

And they all did it simply for Timo and Timo’s Party , the name we gave the first St.O.A in 2019!

That’s the story of how St.O.A came about: a small private party with four live acts!

We enjoyed it so much that we said: 

Let’s bring a rock/metal open-air festival to Lüchow-Dannenberg! Let’s get the little village of Streetz rocking!
